CV for Sales Jobs

So you’ve found a job in Sales which seems perfect for you, the next stage is to write the perfect CV that will do what it’s aimed at – get you an interview! So, how do you create a resume which will get you noticed and into the interview?

If you’ve worked in Sales before then it’s a

good idea to give the employer an idea of how you have made money so give details of the sales you have made, profit you have generated and growth in sales which you have contributed to. Make sure any figures that you quote are accurate and not exaggerated as most employers will ask for references. Most employment contracts include clauses that if you have lied on your CV you can be fired immediately.

Ensure you highlight all of your good points including keeping within budget and the goals you have set and acheived and sales you have made. If you were part of a team or made the pitch when others closed the sale and don’t have figures to include on your CV then include other qualities which may be appropriate: being a team player; confidence when talking to new people; leading seminars or training others.

Covering letters are also important and should include specific details of how you meet the requirements of the job role and what you can bring to the new company. This is what you should use to get the employer’s attention. Presentating and starting with a good opening will catch their attention make them want to read the rest of your résumé.

The CV should always be rewritten specifically for the job you are applying for. You should make sure the resume reflects your acheivements but more importantly, how those acheivements match the position and assets you will bring to the company. Each job has difference requirements so your resume should be as well. For example if you are applying for a job which demands travel make sure you have included your enjoyment and ability to travel. Whereas a role that requires more time spent in the office will need to highlight other elements experience.

When you write your CV for Sales job always remember that the employer is trying to find a person who will fit in their company and fill the position well. If you follow these hints and tips it may make the difference between getting the job or not. Make yourself stand out in the crowd and grab their attention.
