Make sure any figures that you quote are accurate and not exaggerated as most employers will ask for references. Ensure you highlight all of your good points including keeping within budget and the goals you have set and acheived and you have made. If you were part of a team or made the pitch when others closed the sale and don’t have figures to include on your CV then include other qualities which may be appropriate: being a team player; confidence when talking to new people; leading seminars or training others.

Covering letters are also important and should include specific details of how you meet the requirements of the job role and what you can bring to the new company. This is what you should use to get the employer’s attention. Presentating and starting with a good opening will catch their attention make them want to read the rest of your résumé.

The CV should always be rewritten specifically for the job you are applying for. You should make sure the resume reflects your acheivements but more importantly, how those acheivements match the position and assets you will bring to the company. Each job has difference requirements so your resume should be as well. For example if you are applying for a job which demands travel make sure you have included your enjoyment and ability to travel. Whereas a role that requires more time spent in the office will need to highlight other elements experience.
