Sports Direct will be opening a new retail store in Newry. The announcement made by the well know retail brand came on the same day the firm reported that it enjoyed an impressive increase in sales.
The new retail store will be in the Quays Shopping Centre and will join the company’s thirteen other stores that are located throughout Northern Ireland. The fact that the UK had a very ‘sporting’ summer helped the retailer to increase sales by over 20 percent in the thirteen weeks prior to the end of July.
There will be about fifty job openings at the new Newry location which is great news as Newry like every other town in the UK has taken it’s fair share of hits during the recent recession. There are hundreds of Sports Direct outlets all across the UK and the retail giant has sold a great deal of sportswear this summer that was Olympic-themed.
Sports Direct says that it will continue looking for new opportunities to grow its business in Northern Ireland. Sports Direct has been in Northern Ireland for eight years now and offers customers high quality sporting clothing, shoes and equipment at reasonable prices.
