Sports Direct is to open a new warehouse in Shirebrook which will create 500 full time and part time warehouse jobs for the local jobseekers.
Sports Direct is creating 500 new jobs to add to its existing workforce at its site in Shirebrook.
The company is enjoying a massive increase in trade thanks to the popularity of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
A spokesman for Sports Direct stated that the business was growing so quickly that the current recruitment programme could just be the start. The news is a welcome boost to the local area, which has suffered from high unemployment, with more than 7% of those aged 16 to 24 being out of work.
Recruitment firm Blue Arrow will be managing the hiring process on behalf of the company. It is looking for new staff who can start right away and are willing to work full-time hours. A variety of morning, afternoon and night shifts will be available. While the work will initially be on a month to month basis, Sports Direct is confident that many of them will become long-term contracts.
No experience is necessary and the new recruits will help in distribution and stock for online sales. A spokesperson for Blue Arrow stated that this was a great opportunity for the right people to join a successful company and gain valuable work experience.
How to apply for the jobs.
The agency will be holding two open days, one on 29 September at Mansfield’s Market Square and on 3 October at Bolsover Job Centre, to talk to job seekers about the vacancies.
