The Art Institute
Dec 30th
The Art Institute of Bournemouth says:
The Institute is a creative community where staff and students share a passion for and a commitment to the disciplines of arts, design and media. Course leaders, lecturers and technicians all enjoy a wealth of practical experience in their subject area and the majority remain actively engaged in their own work through research, practice or both activities. This work is used to inform their approach to your learning. Industry Liaison Groups and Visiting Tutors from arts, design and media companies also help ensure that our staff and students are informed of current working practices and technological developments within these areas. Importantly, we offer a specialist environment which reflects the way in which individuals and communities work together in the creative industries and where we can give you the professional skills, knowledge and confidence to realise your ambitions and to succeed in your chosen career.
We are committed to your needs: our course recruitment is kept to a level which allows a good student:tutor ratio, hence more individually focused teaching from staff who will know you and your work. Our facilities include well-equipped studios, workshops and the relevant tools and equipment to allow you to experiment and learn required industry skills. We encourage your input: each course has a representational system allowing you a collective voice in the development and shaping of our community and ensures that the quality of each course remains strong and its content relevant. Students are also invited to nominate members to all key Institute committees and to sit on interview panels for academic staff recruitment.
Our reputation is underpinned by consistently good reports from the body which monitors us, the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). Their most recent audit gave the Institute the highest possible grade; awarding ‘broad confidence’ in the management of the quality of our courses. The report also commended the academic standards on offer and highlighted many features of good practice, including the contribution of technician tutors to students’ learning and the provision of library services.
Importantly, our strengths are also recognised by our students. The results of this year’s National Student Survey placed the Institute 22nd out of 129 universities and colleges overall, with joint 4th position for our student advice and support and joint 6th position for the enthusiasm of our teaching staff. Of the 95 of these offering arts and design courses, we were placed in joint 10th position overall and joint 2nd position for our library provision.
We are proud of our achievements and are committed to ensuring that the Institute and its courses continue to offer a learning experience of the highest quality and real relevance. Students who are successful in securing a place with us will join our exciting and developing community and will in turn, we hope, become influential members of the creative industries.
Queens University

One of the UK’s Universities is Queens University, Please follow the link to get more information
Professor Peter Gregson says:
Queen’s combines the best of tradition with a progressive outlook. It is an institution with a world-class academic reputation as reflected in the award of a Queen’s Anniversary Prize in 2006, the fourth time the University has been honoured in this way.
As a member of the Russell Group of leading UK universities, Queen’s is building on its tradition of excellence to secure a future for its students – the leaders of tomorrow. They can look forward to being taught to the highest standards by academics who are both world-class teachers and researchers.
Queen’s is currently investing over £200 million in students, staff and facilities. Our distinctive campus will be further enhanced by the new landmark library, redevelopment of the Elms student village, and major refurbishment of the Physical Education Centre and the Students’ Union. Academic developments range from a substantial expansion in Medicine to new postgraduate courses in Governance and Sustainable Development, from the Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology to the Sonic Arts Research Centre, and from the Seamus Heaney Centre for Poetry to novel approaches to "green technology".
Since I took up my post as President and Vice-Chancellor of Queen’s in August 2004, I have found Belfast to be an exciting, dynamic city which is embracing cultural and economic development. Queen’s is, and will remain, central to this development.
Making people feel at home is a marvellous characteristic of the citizens of Belfast, and Queen’s enthusiastically supports and participates in this. Queen’s also plays a pivotal role in the life of Northern Ireland through its contribution to the professions, the arts and culture, social development and economic prosperity.
Our web pages offer a wealth of information on these and other aspects of Queen’s role, as well as highlighting the "Queen’s Experience", our term for the rewarding intellectual experience which the University offers, coupled with its rich cultural, social, sporting and political life.
