Writing a cover letter for the job role of an Automotive Assistant

An Automotive Assistant helps maintain and repair everything Automotive – from cars to pickup trucks to vans. Automotive Assistants work for dealerships or garages, performing a vast range of tasks whilst helping lead mechanics. They change oil and tires, repair hoses and belts, make sure a vehicle has the proper amount of fluids, and check the brakes.

You will e required to work quickly and accurately, and follow instructions. You will also be required to have a methodical approach to your work and be able to work both as an individual and as a team member.

No qualifications are required for entry to this role, as many Automotive qualifications are gained on the job – via apprenticeships and college day release schemes. This ca lead to qualifications such as NVQ’s.

Most candidates must hold a current driving licence. It would also be desirable if you held a current HGV Driving Licence

Duties to expect:

Transfer tools, parts, equipment, and supplies to and from work stations and other areas
Clean or lubricate vehicles, machinery, equipment, instruments, tools, work areas, and other objects, using hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment
Examine and test machinery, equipment, components, and parts for defects to ensure proper functioning
Adjust, connect, or disconnect wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts, using hand or power tools
Adjust, maintain, and repair tools, equipment, and machines, and assist more skilled workers with similar tasks

I possess a valid driver’s license, of which is one the foremost requirements for the role, and having recently completed my secondary education, I have secured a college place to attend on a part time basis in order to achieve an Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering. I am now seeking a suitable company to employ me in the assistant capacity.
