Further to your advertisement in the Liverpool Echo last week I would like to apply for the position of assistant merchandiser for your store in Southport.

I started as junior assistant merchandiser at a reasonably well-known high street store two years’ ago and after one year I was promoted to assistant merchandiser. I have good experience in managing stock levels, and have input into planning the range. I now supervise a junior merchandiser and enjoy passing on my knowledge.

I now want to move to a larger organisation which will be able to help me to expand upon the skills that I have obtained. Your company is well respected for the quality of clothes it stocks. I am ready to progress to the next level and your position offers that opportunity. I welcome the opportunity of working directly with suppliers and visiting them on a regular basis.

I have enclosed a copy of my CV together with details of my current salary package, as requested in the advertisement.
