Account Executive Interview Questions and Helpful Tips

If you have been successful in getting an interview for an Account Executive role then you will usually come from a strong customer service or account type role. As an Account Executive you will have experience of running accounts and dealing with the account holders and ensuring the smooth running of these accounts.

If you are looking at an interview for an Account Executive then you will probably have some years experience in this role and be looking for the next step up so you will be used to running several accounts of varying sizes and differences in terms of companies.

To do this role well your interviewer will be looking to see if you can communicate well from both a sales and customer service perspective. Although you won’t necessarily be selling to these account holders it is a useful trait to have when running an account so you will need to be an exceptional communicator.

Account Executive Interview Questions

During your interview you may be asked questions such as:
What is the largest account you have run and at what point did you start looking after that account?What type of accounts have you been looking after?Who have you been used to reporting to? How much authority have you had in making decisions?Have you ever provided support to new starters coming into the business?Why do you like the role of running an account?Have you been working towards targets or motivators?Explain the media analysis process from start to finish. What do you analysis skill you used in SPSS when you carried on the research? Describe one or two of the most difficult challenges and/ or rejections you’ve faced in the past and how you responded? How could brands engage with Tripadvisor and who would be the low hanging fruit you would approach if you got this job? What are you like under pressure? Where does your motivation comes from internally Why are you so competitive? Trying to convince why other person is good for the job. What would you say is your greatest weakness? There will be a series of questions related to the type of accounts that the role is for and about the type of clients etc so it is therefore very important to make sure that you have done your research well into the company and what type of accounts they run and with what clients etc.

Before your interview, draw upon your previous experiences and think of some questions that you would like to ask during your interview that shows you are interested in the role but also that you actually would like to find out.
