Dear HR,

I should like to apply for the role of Airport Ramp Agent as advertised recently.

As an Airport ramp agent, I am responsible for directing aircraft into the gate, loading, unloading and sorting all luggage and freight, de-icing the plane, servicing lavatories, filling the plane’s portable water supply and directing the aircraft during gate push-back.

It is a tough and demanding job and safety is paramount owing to the nature of working so closely alongside the working aircraft. In addition, I am used to working in extreme conditions ranging from high heat to freezing cold, wind and snow. I have just returned from a contract out in the Middle East and am now seeking a permanent position in the UK, hence my application for this role.

I have all the necessary security checks, am physically fit and able and can work to strict time constraints as dictated by the aircraft schedules. Often we will have turned a plane around in approximately 30 minutes including loading of luggage, servicing lavatories, supplying the plane with water, push back and engine starting.

I enclose my CV and am available for interview at your convenience. References are available on request and I very much look forward to hearing from you as appropriate.

Yours faithfully
