Cover Letter for a Internal Job Relocation

By Guest Author

How to write an internal job relocation covering letter

If you are applying for a role internally, it is important to approach it with the same professionalism that you would if you were applying externally. You will still need to demonstrate that you have the required qualifications, experience and skills for the job. However, you can use your previous experience at the company as a positive point in your application. You may need to explain why you are moving from your current position.

It is best to explain that you enjoy for the company and wish to stay but want an opportunity to move upwards in the company. Some people make the mistake of assuming that the recruiting manager knows about them. It is best to assume that they know nothing and include all of the detail relevant. Make sure that you therefore explain how your current role has been good preparation for the one that you are applying for.

Include details of any relevant training courses you have completed internally as well. Never assume that they will look these them up themselves, you want to make it as easy for them as possible to get to know all about you. Even if they do know you, they may not remember what you have done with regards to training etc so treat it exactly like they do not know you and this should give the best possible chance of securing an interview.

Internal Job Relocation Letter

Dear Mr Jones,

I would like to formally apply for the Communications Manager vacancy within the Communications Department. As you are aware, I have extensive experience with the company which began six years ago when I took part in the editorial internship programme while I was in college.

Since then I have held positions in the both the Editorial and Marketing departments within the company. During my career with yourselves I have developed excellent writing and editing skills, and have designed and implemented communications strategies in both departments.

I have demonstrated the ability to work well with managers and colleagues across all business sectors. Additionally, I have been in charge of communications and strategies, as well as liaising with the company’s clients to fulfil briefs to the best of my ability.

This is a brief outline of my achievements and experience with the company. I hope that you will find that this concise overview, combined with the attached CV, describe an enthusiastic employee of the company with the experience and skills needed to meet the requirements of the position of Communications Manager.

I am grateful for your consideration of this application and look forward to discussing this opportunity for promotion with you at your earliest convenience.

Kind regards,

Your Name

Internal Job Relocation Letter Example

Dear Sir/Madam

I am writing to enquire about the vacancy within the organisation for (name vacancy). I have worked for (company name) for over five years now and have a sound knowledge of how the company has developed over that time and the future aspirations of the organisation as a whole.

To continue to be part of the organisation’s success and help take it to another level, I would like to be given the opportunity to work in (department name), as I feel it is a natural progression as to my present role and an area which I have great interest in and I believe I could make a positive contribution to the team.

Professional development is important to me and I have noted this role in my past PDP’s with my Line Manager. Now, I feel, is an excellent opportunity to prove I can carry out the role to the standards you expect, developing my role and (company name)’s also.

Thank you for taking the time to read my request and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

Yours faithfully

I’m sorry to point this out so late after this has been posted but I would not help but point out the incorrect usage of the word "ways" made by JOB HUNTER. I believe in this context ‘weighs’ would be more suitable.

"I would like to be considered for the current vacancy in the Accounts department. I consider my experience gain within the company far out ways my inexperience in the working within accounts."

    Hi,

Sorry to point this out so long after this has been posted but I would not help but notice the incorrect usage of the word "ways" made by JOB HUNTER in the following quote:

"I would like to be considered for the current vacancy in the Accounts department. I consider my experience gain within the company far out ways my inexperience in the working within accounts."

I believe ‘weighs’ would be more suitable to the context. Just trying to help out.
