Dear Mr Smith

I would like to be considered for the advertised post of Travel Agent and enclose my CV for that purpose.

You will see from my work experience that I currently work at DEF Travel Agency, where I advise customers on a range of holidays. These include short haul, long haul, package and bespoke holidays. I have gained extensive experience of the travel industry and have developed good working relationships with tour operators.

I am passionate about ensuring that customers have a fabulous holiday and therefore ensure that the suggestions I make will tick all of the required boxes at the right budget. I can also provide advice on visas and any other important information needed on holiday destinations. My experience has taught me that it is worth going ‘the extra mile’ for customers as they will come back again.

I believe that I would be a valuable addition to your team and would like to discuss my experience and qualities further at interview. I can be contacted on (phone number) or at (e-mail address).

Thank you for your time. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely

Jane Brown

Is covering letter required when we want to apply job online. Sending a covering letter through email is easy as compared to posting it in earlier days. Where we can find job specific covering letter examples?

I know a lot of companies are dealing with applications online now – via email and online forms.  Even when emailing though, it is good to include the cover letter as it shows you have still thought about the position and are not just emailing for the sake of it.

I would always try to send a "cover letter" even when emailing, especially as you will have the persons name from the address on the email (unless its a generic info@ type email address or recruitment@ in which case i would still use "Dear sirs"
