There are lots of jobs that all companies need as well as IT staff, such as receptionists, cleaners and data entry staff. There are redundancies in IT, just as there is in other professions. However, there are also jobs that are specialist. There may be more demand for these because less people have those skills. Therefore it is hard to say whether IT jobs are more secure than any other type.
