I think a virtual CV is definitely something that will become more popular in the future. If you burned it to a disk and sent it to prospective employers, I genuinely think it would make them look twice. However, when applying to large chains I think such a CV would be overlooked.
I believe it could be particularly effective to professionals with a high profile in their field of expertise, and would look excellent displayed on a LinkedIn profile. Definitely something that I will be considering.
