Hi, if you are looking for a job in technical support call centres or via shops, I would suggest that you ensure that your CV emphasises your interpersonal and communications skills as companies will be looking for staff who can explain technical information in a simple way. Have you thought about sourcing a short training course on customer services? Adding this to your CV will give you an edge over other applicants and show that you are committed to this career. You should also ensure that you mention your ability to work under pressure and to handle difficult situations.
I would guess that the largest companies with the biggest demand for tech support call centre staff are the comms companies such as Virgin Media, Sky and Talk Talk. Also check out Apple’s UK site as they have a specific jobs section and advice on how to apply.
I don’t know if you’d be prepared to undertake an apprenticeship to get into the retail side of things but you could check out http://www.apprenticeships.org.uk if this is something that you would consider. It may be worth it if you are finding it difficult to break into your desired niche.
Hope this is helpful!
