Giant internet retailer Amazon is to create another 100 new jobs at its new digital media development site in London.

The centre, which opened towards the end of 2012, is in the Old Street area of London and focuses on the development and design of new digital media ventures.

Staffs working at the Amazon-owned businesses Pushbutton and Lovefilm are also based in the centre.

Amazon opened the centre in London because it wanted to take advantage of the wealth of technical talent that the city can offer. The company searches for the most innovative minds in the UK to work on the next generation of App, TV and film services for Amazon customers all over the world.

The Silicon Roundabout location, situated in the Old Street area of east London, is at the heart of the government’s Tech City plan, designed to be a magnet for big technology names to be drawn to the capital.

When the eight-storey site opened last year, Amazon said it planned to use it to develop and increase interactive services for a variety of platforms such as TV, games consoles, kindle devices and next generation smartphones.
