The global retail company, Amazon have released plans that they are to create a further 350 new jobs which at the moment will double the capacity of its base in Staffordshire.

Amazon is a US company and they have put in a planning application to Cannock Chase Council to hopefully allow them to be able to create a new entrance to the building situated at Towers Business Park centre based in Rugeley, Staffordshire.

As part of the expansion, the company will need to concentrate on the traffic and how they accommodate an extra 350 people coming into the building each day so they are going to build a new roundabout system which should help the traffic flow around the centre. They will also be adding extra parking spaces to the site and building a new bus stop for public transport facilities.

Inside the huge building in Rugeley, Staffordshire there are literally millions of products that are sent out from that site but with the extra staff, these numbers will be reconfigures in order to double its holding capacity.

The site at Rugeley was created and employed approximately 900 roles. Within the UK, Amazon employ more than 7,000 permanent staff and the majority of these staff are employed in distribution centres. Amazon also announced that they thought over the Christmas period they would need to recruit approximately 2,500 seasonal roles into its distribution centres.

The Council in Cannock are quite pleased with Amazon’s proposal for the changes as they welcome any new jobs that are created and feel that the plans have been thought out well.  The council also believes that it shows that the area is doing well and with these increases in staff, it means that local people have more chance for better employment situations which is excellent news all round.
