    Asda Expansion Plans in Doncaster

A Doncaster job black spot may get an employment increase after the announcement of a new supermarket plan.

Retail chain Asda is proposing to open a 40,000 sq ft supermarket in the Dearne Valley with the prospect of fresh jobs in the area.

Plans for the new supermarket, to be located on the site of a disused chemical works, will be submitted to Doncaster Council in the next few months.

The company has had an established interest in opening a store in Denaby Main, on a key site that will be completely regenerated to become productive once again.

Asda will be submitting a planning request for a new outlet, with a petrol station and car parking on the site currently used by Whyte Chemicals. Whyte is preparing to carry out its own expansion plan by moving its operation to a larger site.

If the planning is approved, the new development will replace the existing Asda store in Denaby. Some staff would move to the new outlet and further jobs would be created in the larger new store.

Asda already has ten supermarkets in the Doncaster area including key stores at Carcroft and Lakeside.
