Just a couple of days ago Boots announced 7,000 christmas jobs and now Asda has also announced their recruitment plans for Christmas 2011.
Asda is the second large company to announce holiday jobs for 2011. The supermarket giant is spending nearly £5m on customer services department to help visitors shop nicely with new Asda temp employees during Xmas times.
Part of that spend will cover the wages of the 7,000 extra full and part time staff they will start to recruit for Christmas from September onwards.
Which type of job will be offered?
customer service assistants,
shop floor assistants,
home delivery roles (drivers, loaders)
The permanent staff will also gain from this time of the year as Asda will be offering extra hours for those who want to work longer hours. In total over 750k hours of time to be worked druing this busy days and nights.
Chief Executive Officer and President of Asda, Andy Clarke, explained why these jobs and their customers were so important:
“Our customers love Christmas – and they want everything to be just right – that’s why we’re bringing in 7,000 extra pairs of hands to make sure it goes without a hitch. Extra help to our customers when they need it most and much needed job opportunities in our local communities.â€
