ASDA are looking to create a home shopping service in their store in Bloxwich which has been established for more than 40 years. To do this they will need to employ a further 25 members of staff to deal with the increased work.

These roles will be made up of part time roles to cover all shifts and eventualities for ASDA.
Local residents have raised serious concerns regarding the expansion as they believe that it will create extra noise, parking issues and delivery problems.  This is because ASDA have put forward plans to create a Home Shopping pod, an external freezer and the building of two canopies which is where the area will work from.

They have already had one rejection as they could not show the council how this was affect the traffic in the surrounding area but the new report shows that there will be a reduction in traffic movements through more deliveries rather than customers.

The two delivery vans that would be in operation would deal with up to 120 orders in any one day which would significantly reduce the number of customers to the store by 240 customers.

The plans to relate to the storage yard are at the Woodall Street site are being recommended for approval. They have recommended that the delivery vans would start from 7am and the last delivery would be 10pm. These changes are not so much that different from how the store has been operating for the past 40 years anyhow.

Local residents are concerned that there will be more parking problems with deliveries going in and out but really the home delivery will mean less customers to the store which should alleviate the concern greatly. This is the next step for this store, many other stores and other supermarkets all operate in this way and its the future of shopping.
