A new site is to be built with 435 homes including 150 affordable houses and the developers are keen to get one of the giant supermarkets on the site. They are currently in talks with ASDA to be on board as the main place that the residents and local communities do their shopping.

Marston’s Inns and Taverns are behind this with its commitment to the Willow Green scheme and that their venue would be a 180 cover family type pub and that alone would create 40-50 jobs in addition to the volume of jobs that will be available during the period of construction and development.

They are still in current planning talks but if planning is consented then the site could be open to the public by spring 2016.

With ASDA on board and Marston’s now too the developers are seeing what Willow Green will look like and see it being an important part of the community for them. It is a huge sign of confidence for Truro by opening this in a neighbourhood venue.

Marston’s have stated that they have wanted to open a pub in Truro for a long time now and are delighted to have finally found the perfect location at Willow Green and are excited for the future development.  They are looking forward to having a family friendly pub and opening the job opportunities up to the local community.

The developers have also said that they are looking at building a new primary school for the area, a community hall, some open space which includes sports pitches, a children’s play area and an allotment.

The issue of traffic and how this is going to affect the roads and this is being taken very seriously and needs to be understood and investigated carefully to make sure that it is going to work well for everyone.
