How to be Active and Stay Busy while unemployed?

    Brush up your skills
Examine your current skills. Do they line up with the demands of the job market? Make efforts to update yourself. Enroll in online classes, learn new software, read relevant books, attend workshop seminars and public lectures.

    Part Time Work
Volunteer in a private firm or offer consulting services on your own. You can start this with your friends, neighbors and even family.

    Begin a Business
Do you have a skill that would lend itself to self employment? Have you always wanted to start your own business? The business will be a chance to hone your management skills and provide some needed income. You now have the time it takes to get it off the ground. Again the people you meet will be great to add to your network.

    Engage in Teach
This will brush up your skills since this will demand more than baseline proficiency to teach as well as bring in much needed income. Teaching sharpens your presentation skills and can also be a good avenue for networking since you will have a class full of students to add to your network. Its a good form of advertising for starting business.

    Home Work
Doing all those little projects you never have time to get to do around the home.

    Network
Join a social or career network, professional organization or community groups. It is easy to get socially isolated and discouraged while unemployed.

    Have Fun
Daily commitments and activities at work take up a lot of our time. With work and family obligations there is often not much time to have fun. Dont worry about everything! relax!!
