John and Alison James, former Police Officers are starting a new business in Hampshire as a care home to provide care for elderly people in Fareham Gosport and surrounding areas. The couple met whilst working for Hampshire Police and have two children of their own.

Mr and Mrs James said that they wanted to set up a care home from what they have seen and experienced through their careers.  Mr James has spent 25 years working with the police, working up to Chief Superintendent in charge of the Hampshire Special Branch and the Major Crime Team investigating serious crimes across the country.

Mr James also had a second career supplying computer systems to police agencies across the world. The couple then decided it was time to launch their own business which to date has been running for eight weeks and currently has seven employed staff.  Mr James said that it was already becoming demanding and very clear that they needed to take on more staff as soon as they can.

Mr James said that being in the police force for himself and his wife was a vocation that they enjoyed serving and working in the community. He believes that the police force and the care sector are very similar sectors, caring and protecting others, similar to what you need to do in the police force.

Over the next seven months, the new care home is expected to employ 50 people into the business which is excellent news for the surrounding area and local residents.  If business continues to grow as they both hope they are looking to employ 100 people by their third year.

The carers working for the new care home will be working for the larger organisation Home Instead Senior Care but in the Fareham and Gosport section.
