Caremark, a national care business, will create around 200 jobs when it expands its operations in North Staffordshire and South Cheshire, meaning that staff numbers in the areas will increase from the current 55 to over 250.

The organisation is a provider of care and support services to the elderly, people who have physical and/or learning disabilities and those with terminal illnesses.  The jobs boost comes after Caremark succeeded in winning service contracts from Staffordshire County Council and Cheshire East Council.

The aim is for the company to start providing services in October so it is busy recruiting for a number of posts, including support staff, supervisory workers and office co-ordinators.

Caremark’s managing director stated that the company was enjoying an increase in demand for its services and that it is confident that it will find the full-time and part-time workers needed to deliver.

The posts do not require any previous experience in the care sector as the company provides full training.  The company is looking for staff who have patience and a considerate manner and particularly welcomes applications from people who live in the area’s towns and villages as the new services will be located all across the regions.

The new care staff will be expected to provide personal care – for example, washing and dressing – to the people they support as well as help with shopping, cooking and housework.  Some services also involve live-in, round the clock support.

A spokesperson for the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry stated that the new jobs amounted to great news during the current difficult economic times.
