The logistics business, Clipper Logistics has its head office in Leeds. They have won a 5 year contract extension with the retail supermarket giant Tesco creating approximately 200 jobs in the short term for the people of Daventry in Northamptonshire.

Clipper Logistics stated that the extension would be run from a 400,000 square foot warehouse facility in Daventry, Northamptonshire.

The company Clipper Logistics was floated on the London Stock Exchange in May saying at the time that there was an increased potential for more employment opportunities within their business which will stem to the longer term as the contracts progress further.

Clipper Logistics are pleased to be partnered with Tesco, one of the supermarket giants as Tesco are a leading name in the UK retail market. Clipper Logistics are pleased that they have this long term contract with them providing them with a specialised logistics solution which will help Tesco to continue growing online which is their current aim to progress in retail.

Clipper have had a lot of previous experience in multichannel retail and they are looking forward to continuing this success with their contract with Tesco. Clipper have given Tesco faith and trust in their abilities for the future plans and progression.

Clipper Logistics will first be looking at trying to improve the Tesco clothing supply chain to focus on their costs, the importance of this area and the complexity and risk that is a big part of the business area for Tesco.

The site in Daventry is expected to see the first lot of stock arriving from August 2014 as the contract with Tesco is on a phased basis taking things step by step to ensure that they continue to be successful.

This is exciting times for the Logistics business and for workers and residents in the Daventry area for employment potential in both the short and long term.
