A devastating arson attack, which destroyed Dunelm Mill and Dreams at Orchard Retail Park in Coventry last year, has not stopped the stores from rebuilding and restoring the area to its former glory.

In addition, 45 new full and part-time jobs will be created when the stores re-open at the end of the year.

The fire was so substantial that more than 80 firefighters attended the blaze and millions of pounds of stock was destroyed.  The incident also forced the nearby post depot and school to close and the road was blocked off in both directions, cancelling or delaying bus services.

The news that all of the original staff at Dunelm Mill will be kept and that new posts will be available in a number of departments as well as its new cafe have been welcomed by the community.  The original staff were temporarily redeployed to Rugby and Nuneaton while the store has been rebuilt.

The new store will be 4,000 sq ft bigger than the previous one and will have a comprehensive sprinkler system – a feature which was not in place at the time of the fire.

Dunelm Mill stated that a lot of hard work and dedication had been invested to rebuild and improve the store and that it was pleased that the re-opening would create more jobs for local people.
