    How much salary can I earn for a Design Engineer job in the UK? What are the average rates?

    You can find many design engineer job vacancies on the job sites online. All you need to do is to search latest jobs. If you want to become a design engineer then here are simple requirements:

    Firstly you will need a foundation degree, BTEC HNC/HND or a degree if you want to become a Design Engineer. Here are some of the subjects:

    engineering product design
    industrial design
    computer-aided design engineering
    engineering design and manufacture
    materials science

    Some employers will also accept Electrical, Mechanical and civil engineering degrees.

    You can contact Institution of Engineering Designers (IED) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) for more information about becoming a Design Engineer in the UK.

    Design Engineer salary:

    – Starting salaries are between £20k and £25k PA.

    – When you have experience in this job then your salary will be between £26,000 and £40,000 a year.

    – Senior Design Engineers can earn more than £50,000 per year.

    These are only estimates salary figures.

    Good information, and a very decent starting salary.

    As you need a degree, you can expect to be starting on a decent salary, which will increase over the years. I’m not sure what an experienced design engineer can hope to earn – does anybody know?
