EasyJet announced its plans to expand its presence at Manchester Airport – starting with the creation of 120 jobs.
The jobs will be created with the introduction of a new aircraft to its Manchester hub, which will come into operation in March 2013.
Chief Executive Carolyn McCall declared the company was committed to “long term†growth at the airport and claimed the move was an opportunity to establish a firm business network in the area for the airline.
The latest move will raise the number of planes easyJet has at the airport to seven with Ms McCall hinting that further additions could be added soon.
She stated that the airline hopes to grow the number of business travellers to more than a fifth of all total passengers in the upcoming years.
Ms McCall said that the company saw Manchester as “the gateway to the north†and said Easyjet have made a commitment to expand in the city, “provided conditions are right.”
She added that increasing the number of business travellers EasyJet carries out of Manchester was one of the main opportunities for growth, creating further employment opportunities.
