I am self employed and do not earn very much. I have tried in the past to ask customers to pay me more, but with little success. Once I negotiate an initial rate, I cannot get them to change it. Does anyone have any tips on how I could negotiate higher rates with existing customers please.

It can be wise just to ask and see what happens. You are unlikely to lose customers if you ask for more money, but they may not agree to paying you more. It may just be better to ask a higher rate when you get new customers and keep the old ones on the original fee.
