    Hi,
I’m currently unemployed and have been for 2 years. Last job was working in a bar. Am trained as a chef but cannot stand the heat anymore. I am also trained as a fitness instructor but cannot compete with the younger generation (or so it seems) or can I get any work in the industry, plus I have a catheter in which means I cannot do any physical exercise.
Now, for the time being, I have to do something. I enjoy using a computer and want to do something with computer repair – or something like that, perhaps even teach IT. I think I want to go into computer maintainance and repair.
But where do I start?  :'(
I’ve contacted dozens of local businesses, by letter and in person, and they say that they cannot afford the training or the insurance, and they would have to employ me. Many smaller businesses don’t want volunteers working with them. The local college has axed many courses last and this year as well. I could look further afield to a different college but I’m worried about finances; I can barely afford food at the moment let alone train and bus fares. Getting volunteer work related to this field is proving to be a nightmare.
Now I’m on the government Work Programme and they say that I have to forget what I want to do, and may be asked to work at Poundland or Tesco stacking shelves. I wouldn’t mind that for the time being but they are not going to give me a wage, which pisses me right off!
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I can’t see any better way than finding a job within a small repair company and improve yourself for some time and then look for bigger companies and higher positions or start your own repair company.

Today, people are just buying a new computer or laptop rather than repairing it since repair costs are nearly same as a new computer or laptop.

I’ve tried that root already. No joy.
