Experts have said that they expect to see a continuation of jobs growth in Plymouth into 2015. Last year unemployment in the city fell by 26 per cent and it is expected that this will continue.

Hays, a specialist recruitment company based in Plymouth have said that 70% of employers in the city are expecting to take on more staff. The CBI is predicting national job growth as well. The Lloyds Bank South West PMI report also has recorded a 20th month in a row of job growth as well, with an emphasis on manufacturing. A survey of recruitment also found that demand for staff rose stringly in November and although less in Decembers till stringer than a UK average amount.

Jobcentre Plus commented saying that the figures were positive and meant that seasonal jobs in the area could lead to permanent positions. It was reported that there was high recruitment in retail, construction, care and driving and it was expected that things will continue to improve. The Range chain will be creating 8- new jobs with its new outlet to add to it.

Katja Hall form the CBI explained that businesses are planning on recruiting and firms are also increasing graduate input and expanding apprentices.

However not everyone was so positive with Ian Brokenshire from KPMG in Plymouth saying that the slowdown in figures for December could reflect what might happen in 2015.
