It also means that person can be working in any one of a myriad of career fields and positions. With a population of around 750,000, Leeds is the third most populous city in the UK. It takes a multitude of people to keep its cogs turning smoothly. This multitude has to perform a great number of widely varied jobs. Leeds City Council employs cooks, arborist, engineers, Librarians, childcare assistants, driver escorts, and gardeners. This list is only a few. In fact, the council employs about 32,000 people. The Leeds City Council website boasts various programs which are in place to aid Leeds’s residents who are interested in working for the council. To begin with, there’s the jobs and skills service. On the jobs and skills page of the website, the heading reads: “jobs and skills offers a range of services and programmes aimed at moving unemployed people into jobs or training.†The page goes on to outline service such as Jobshops, which are in place to support people who have difficulty accessing training and employment opportunities. Here, job seekers can obtain advice on jobs that may interest them, as well as, advice on training opportunities that will help them get the job they want. There’s also help with upgrading or preparing a curriculum vitae. It’s all free of charge. The webpage also mentions a citywide network of Jobshops, 13 locations in fact.
