The town was buzzing when the new Marks & Spencer opened its doors in Waterlooville, making this store the first M&S in the Havant borough so far.  The Simply Food store has opened on Wellington Retail Park yesterday and there were 60 people in the audience waiting and watching for Tom Weatherill to cut the opening ribbon.

Unfortunately Waterlooville has seen a decline in trade over the past decade so it is to be hoped that with the new M&S there that the brand will help to give Waterlooville a boost.
The site where the simply food has opened used to belong to JJB Sport but had been empty for some time and has created 60 new jobs to the area.  The town are pleased to see M&S arrive on its doorstep because before they opened the doors they had to travel to Portsmouth or Chichester to visit a M&S and now that M&S has opened, it has been rumoured that Sainsburys too is opening a  store in Hambledon Road.

Both businesses are looking to find new customers from their new sites especially in an area where they have not had these two stores previously. The simply food will have an order and collect service which also includes non food items which is great to the working public.  The simply food store is 8,400 square foot in size and the local residents of Waterlooville said that they are pleased to see the store arrive and look forward to the development that will come with this.

The new store in Waterlooville has an in-store bakery and a 50 seat cafe which is brilliant news for the customers who previously travelled to Portsmouth and Chichester.  The store will also sell fresh flowers and greetings cards.

The feed back after day one was that the store had a huge range of products and that the customers liked the feel of the new store.  The new store will be open Monday to Saturday 8-8 and Sunday 10-4.
