I’ve been working at a Matalan store for over a year and a half – I’m now 19.

I get paid £5.25 as a General Sales Assistant. Thanks to the government’s 3 minimum wages, 21+ get paid £6.19.

I know people younger than me getting over a pound more an hour simply to unpack deliveries for other retail stores – it’s ridiculous.

I consistently get the most registrations (for Matalan cards) every week which brings in the company money when people receive promotional offers and thus come instore to shop and yet I – nor does anyone for that matter – receive bonuses of any kind – oh and did I mention the pay?

The staff I work with are lovely but Matalan as a business doesn’t care about its staff nearly as much as other retailers do.
