    Next Job Application

Finding a job within the retail industry is becoming increasingly difficult as high street companies find it more difficult to compete with online competitors and the number of jobs dwindle.  Next continues to be a popular employer and before you start your application you should do some research into the job application process there.

    Next Recruitment Process

Next only advertise their current vacancies on their company website at Next.co.uk where you can find out about the types of work each position requires and search for vacancies in your area.  If you wish to apply for one of the jobs you will first need to register your details on their site.

Once registered you will then be asked to fill in specific details about your work history in relation to the job you are applying for.  In addition to filling in an online CV, the Stockroom Assistant and Sales Assistant roles will require you to complete a Customer Services Questionnaire.  You will be asked to watch four videos and after each short video you should answer a couple of questions relating to customer service and your responses to various situations.  In order for your application to be progressed you will need to meet a minimum score on the customer service aspect of the form.

After submitting your application you will be contacted within a couple of days, usually by email, to confirm whether you have been successful.  If you have been successful you will be asked to attend an interview, usually held at the store that you hope to work at.

If you are unsuccessful at the application form stage you can apply for any other vacancies, but you are not permitted to reapply for the same vacancy if it is still available on the website.

The Next interview is a standard one-to-one interview where you will be asked to answer questions about your past experiences and how you have behaved in various circumstances. After the interview you will be informed about whether you have been successful within 10 days. Good luck with your application.

I have a friend who works in Next as a part-time worker, although I’m not sure there are many part-time positions available. Many of the simple, shop floor jobs do get snapped up quite quickly, and I find that most positions available on the website of these kind of stores are managerial positions or full time.
