    Plumber Salary

A plumber is someone with a logical approach to dealing with problems.  Using your skills in a practical way on a daily basis is the core part of a plumber’s role.  Your role may involve fitting a new system and boiler which may require you to follow drawings and plans from a developer or require you to draw up your own logical system for a home.  You could be repairing existing water pipes, a shower, a heating system or boiler in homes or businesses.  Because you are working directly with customers, you will need excellent customer service skills along with planning and organisational skills.

To become a plumber you need to be qualified. This is normally done by studying for a City and Guilds or EAL Diploma Level 2 and 3.  Level 2 is the beginner’s level where you would learn everything about Plumbing and Domestic Heating, and level 3 is the more advanced course. Both involve classroom based learning and practical hands on work. A work placement would be found so that you can put to use the skills that you have learnt so the course gives you a fully comprehensive understanding of plumbing and domestic heating.

    Starting salary: £16,500 – £21,000
