Hi All,
I’m gonna quit my job soon as I have to go back to my own countries for 3/4 months. After that period of time I’d be back to the Uk where I’d start looking for jobs again. Even if I hope not to need the JSA and to find a position quickly I’m a bit worried that I might not be able to claim for JSA cause I’ll be leaving my job voluntarily
I would really appreciate your help on this matter.Many thanks!
You would find it more difficult to claim JSA if you leave voluntariy but since you have a mitigating factor (leaving the country) they should take that into account.
Perhaps if possible keep some funds saved, as you will be waiting some weeks.
I agree with Loztiggy. Obviously, I don’t know the reason for you having to return to your native country but, if there are mitigating circumstances and you need to go home for family reasons, etc, you should explain why you have to go back.
It’s always difficult to claim job seekers allowance if staff see that you have resigned from a job so it’s important that, when you return, you are able to provide a very good reason for leaving your job and spending some time back home.
As Loztiggy suggests, I would save some spare funds if you can to tide you over when you come back to the UK. If there are particular circumstances that need to be considered, I’m sure that the Benefits Agency will take a little longer to consider your application for job seekers allowance.Usually if you quit your job you cannot claim for i think it is 6 months, however if there are mitigating circumstances then that should be looked at differently, i would agree though try and save some money so that if you cant claim you do have funds
