    Receptionist Salary:

Working as a receptionist can be busy, hard work and incredibly high energy. However many receptionists love the variety offered by the job. You are a key  person in a business as you may be the first person people talk or meet in the organisation and therefore you are representing the company and the brand.  You will need a cheerful nature, the ability to want to help people and a lot of patience. It can help if you are able to deal with difficult people as occasionally you may run into problems.

Receptionists work in leisure centres, hotels, doctors, dentists and businesses so the job specifications may vary from business to business but in general you can expect duties to include answering the phone, taking messages, dealing with queries and sending out information. You will also meet and greet visitors and give out security passes and possibly organise refreshments for them. In some jobs you may take payments over the phone and book in appointments and meetings.

There are no compulsory qualifications needed although some companies will insist on GCSE English and Maths and some companies will like to see an IT related subject. Foreign languages can help secure you work in a large global organisation that may have different nationalities calling in.

    Starting salary: £12,500
    Experienced salary: £15,000
    Senior salary: £19,000
