I am wondering whether to start a retail job. I have never worked in retail before and am not sure whether it is for me. What skills will I need and what will the job be like?
Many of the jobs in retail are as customer service assistants. This means that you will on the shop floor serving customers. You will need to be able to work the till, deal with customer queries and be a helpful and polite representative of the store. This means that you will need to be happy to be dealing with people all of the time. In some jobs you will be on your feet all of the time, in others you will be able to sit down. The exact nature of what you do will depend on the specific job and company that you are working for.
