If you are keen to return to a previous employer you should contact your old colleague or managers to find out if they have any vacancies. If they have you have to apply through the normal route such as filling application form or submitting your CV.

Please remember that it is unlikely you will have the same experiences as you did during your previous employment because employees, managers and processes will probably has changed.

You will have an advantage cos you already know the company and some of their systems but you may also be at a disadvantage as the company will be able to see your record.

You would highlight the good things that you did for the company in covering letter.
