Sainsbury’s has announced that they are to open one of their Sainsbury’s Local stores at the bottom of St Johns Hill and less than a mile from the Otford superstore. The new proposed store is close to their Otford superstore but this is a benefit to Sainsburys allowing for their customers to travel to either store depending on what they need from that particular visit.

The new store is planned to open on 16th May this year and it will create a further 25 jobs for the area, although a Sainsbury’s spokesman said that this could be subject to change due to the development and the time that this could take allowing for any building restrictions etc but that they would confirm nearer the time for the public to be ready for the grand opening.

The Sainsbury’s local store will be based on the redeveloped site of the former Ferrari garage turned hot tub showroom so it has a local history in Sevenoaks but would benefit greatly from the convenience of a Sainsburys local store.

As well as this new Sainsbury’s local being built, the rival supermarket company, Waitrose are planning to open a Little Waitrose at the Shell garage on London road. This is currently in the planning stages though so a fair way off from opening.

Competition is always interesting between food supermarkets but there is always room for competition and gives the customers greater choice into their shopping requirements allowing for different budgets and patterns to their shopping.

The new 25 roles will be going to local residents in the area, supported by Sainsburys Area Managers to provide them with excellent training to learn all about the business and the area in which they are working in to provide the best customer service they possibly can to their customers.
