Sainsbury’s new store in Carlisle is expected to create 500 new jobs when completed, which could be ready by Christmas 2012.
Supermarket bosses have advised that the construction works could commence shortly, which would start with the demolition of the disused buildings on the corner of Bridge Street and Bridge Lane, Carlisle.
The £40 million development will include the 8,800 square meter new supermarket, a petrol station and car park for 446 cars.
