Do hobbies and personal interests need to be shown? its nothing to do with the employer but it can give employer an insigth about your personality.

So you can always leave that field empty or write something else more useful.

With your hobbies, try to word them in a way that shows your personality and also shows how it can help you within your job role. Adding things that require no interaction with others for example, will give off the impression that your not well suited for working with teams of people. This doesn’t mean you can’t add things like “reading books” just try to add other hobbies too, like spending time with family etc.

I think adding hobbies and interests does support a CV and it proves you have interests outside of work. Good hobbies to mention include reading, any education you do for example, a cookery class or learning a foreign language, or even artistic things such as painting or craft. It shows you know how to relax and can even imply that you are less likely to suffer from stress.
However, I do not agree with mentioning spending time with family, particularly children. Employers can see children as a negative, even though they shouldn’t. They would never mention that this is a reason they chose not to employ you, but it can be an unmentioned factor.
