Transport for London to create 1,000 jobs via a new project to make 65 new trains for the CrossRail development. This new project will also create 100 apprenticeships as well as 1,000 in the UK.
The company, Bombardier, said that they will make the new trains at their factory in Derby.
Boris Johnson said:
“The manufacture of these new trains will not only revolutionise rail travel in London, they will deliver jobs and economic growth in their birthplace in Derby and across the UK”
“With a firm on board to deliver a fleet of 21st century trains and the tunneling more than halfway complete, we’re on track to deliver a truly world-class railway for the capital.”
