September 2011 has seen Waitrose open its new store in Stratford City creating more than 150 new job vancancies. The supermarket has been working closely with Newham Workplace to ensure that the majority of new jobs are offered to people working in the immediate area.
Waitrose are committed to delivering a 15% reduction in operational carbon emissions in the next 10 years, and this new 20,968 square foot store is a great step as it will be the supermarket chains first to be powered by an energy centre. The store will receive all of its heating and cooling requirement from the energy centre at the shopping centre.
