Waitrose were delighted to announce that they are building a multi million pound store in Corstorphine. This will be the third store in the Capital and will be between St Johns Road and Manse road and it will improve the area by replacing a number of empty retail units.
This proposal is within is development stages with Realis Estates, the developer, holding meetings with the local community groups and councillors conducting a thorough community consultation process.

It has the backing of the local council and will offer free customer parking and promises to match prices with Tesco and contribute £12,000 annually to local charities and not for profit organisations through its community matters scheme. It is important to have the community on side and backing this development not only for the development itself but for the custom once the store is up and running.

Waitrose are keen to give customers more choice by coming into the area and widening their availability. There is plenty of room for competition in the area. They also believe that the position of the new store will sit well amongst the other local stores and bring a few more shoppers to the local area allowing the local area to be redeveloped. It is a good thing for the future of Corstorphine.

Not only will this development bring new jobs to the local community but it will also boost the local economy but they are not naive enough to have not throught about the traffic issues and will ensure that a good road system is put in place to deal with the extra traffic that they will be expecting through this store being built.

Waitrose already has 2 stores in the area, one in Comely Bank and one in Morningside which have to date both brought a significant increase in people to the local area and economy so they feel that it will be the same pattern in Corstorphine.
