What’s it like working in Primark?

Maybe you’re thinking of applying to work in one of the UKs most well known high street fashion stores?  Or perhaps you’ve already been offered a position there.  So what can you expect?

We’ve asked several Primark employee’s for their opinion, and advice on what new starters should need to know – read on for a list of their good points and bad points.

    Good Points:
You get to meet some of the staff you’ll be working with at your induction and training day, so you won’t get thrown in at the deep end straight away.

Staff are expected to be flexible, hardworking and reliable.

You get to see the products first, so you’ll always be one step ahead in high street fashion.

The friends you make there are almost always lovely.  Generally a young crowd who are up for enjoying themselves.

You may get the opportunity to open new stores, which offers opportunities to meet with other employees and there is usually a great atmostphere.  Some of the larger stores may even offer travel opportunities as a dispatch team to train staff opening stores abroad.

There are opportunities for career progression within the company.

Bad Points: (would you believe there are some?!)
Pay will vary depending on location, but is generally only slightly above minimum wage.
As with all retail units customers have high expectations despite the low costs of products, and you will have to deal with disatisfied customers.
The nature and setup of Primark means that returning stock to shelves and display units is a constant battle.

I am flexible, hard working and reliable. A career within your company would be a dream for me.

Fashion is my passion! I know what women need in order to create the  perfect style and image about themselves, a knowledge gained when writing my dissertation in Social Sciences. I have experience in sales, as I used to work as a Sales assistant for Bersca in Greece and as a Customer Advisor for the communication Centre of Bosch in Liverpool. Please give me the opportunity of career development in your company.
