Dear Mr Smith

I would like to apply for the role of Aircraft Cleaner as advertised recently.

I have been working at Heathrow Airport for the last 2 years in this capacity and would like to move to Gatwick Airport. I am used to working varied shifts. Prior to taking up this position, I worked in the City, cleaning office blocks and commercial premises, working for an agency, it was busy and varied work and required a lot of early starts, so I am used to hard work and long hours, I prefer being busy and active so it suits me very well.

Dear Sirs

I should like to apply for the role of IT Consultant as advertised recently.

I have been working in an industrial based organisation, advising on business and IT problems. On a day to day basis this has involved consulting staff, defining objectives, determining information system requirements and making recommendations, writing reports and documentation and, as part of a team, designing and installing IT systems.

I am also responsible for heading up a small team of trainers who are also involved on ongoing help desk support, answering questions and trouble-shooting where needed. It is a demanding role because of the critical nature of IT systems in keeping the business up and running at all times.

As such, I am often required to work long hours and some weekends on emergency call out.

I have been in my current role for 18 months. I have a degree in Computing Science and have gone on to study further qualifications specifically in SAP and Microsoft software application packages.

I would now like to focus on SAP and see that this is the main focus for the job advertised, hence my application for this role.

I am good at team-working as demonstrated by the fact I head up the training team, I have good analytical skills and am meticulous in my approach. I very much hope to be considered for this position and look forward to hearing from you as appropriate.

I enclose my CV and am available for interview at your convenience. References are available on request.

Yours faithfully

Dear Sirs

I would like to apply for the role of Baggage Handler as advertised recently.

I am currently working at Manchester Airport and wish to relocate to London, hence my application for this position based at Heathrow Airport. I have worked in the Airline industry all my life, as ground crew and support staff, working in a variety of roles, so I have a good grasp of the workings of an airport and its functions. It’s a career I enjoy very much indeed.

I load and unload freight between aircraft flights; check and sort luggage against flight lists; oversee the transfer of luggage from the check-in area to the departure area; take responsibility for baggage transportation devices; consult with warehouse staff for the storage of cargo and assist with the cleaning and de-icing of aircraft and keeping runways clear of snow in Winter.

I also help as part of a rota system with loading baggage onto conveyors for collection.

I work shifts, including some overtime, and these are usually in 12 hour blocks including evening and weekend working.

I enclose my CV and am available for interview at your convenience. References are available on request and I very much look forward to hearing from you as appropriate.

Yours faithfully

Dear HR

I would like to apply for the role of Project Engineer as advertised recently.

I have a degree in Engineering and, as a project engineer who is part of a project management team, I have a lot of responsibility directing a team of individuals and keeping track of several projects, from monitoring status, through to taking the long view – evaluating economic factors for future projects.

I have to ensure that the various parts are progressing, and that the project works as a whole. I get involved at every level of the project from concept to production and everything in between. I often have a wide range of different projects on the go at the same time, all at different phases of development.

Although my routine varies, it generally comprises ensuring a project is fit-for-purpose and adheres to the project budget and schedule, that all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed; I have to account for engineering tasks to ensure they meet contract requirements, develop project-specific procedures for the work to be carried out,  ensure all justifications for contractual variations during projects are maintained to support subsequent commercial claims and take responsibility for a team of engineers and training/mentoring junior engineers.

I now wish to progress to senior engineer, or project manager, and eventually overall operations manager and would like to apply for this position as it offers a pathway to providing this career opportunity.

I enclose my CV and am available for interview at your convenience. References are available on request and I very much look forward to hearing from you as appropriate.
