Psychology Personal Statement Example

By Guest Author

If your career is in psychology or you are at the beginning of you career looking to develop it within psychology then you will need to be a graduate in this area and have some practical work experience before you can start working professionally as a psychologist.

Psychology looks at the mind and behaviour of people, usually people with issues and problems that affects their behaviour and helps to channel this better through medication, counselling and other therapies. A Psychologist needs to be an excellent listener and needs to be able to communicate well in sometimes very difficult and traumatic circumstances.

An employer will be looking at your general work experience following your qualifications and to see what type of people you have worked with and who you would like to work within your career choice. They will be looking at your communication skills and personal attributes such as how you work under pressure and deal with difficult situations.

If you are looking to write your personal statement to support any application, please see the below statement that you can use as a guide.

Psychology Personal Statement Example

I am a degree educated psychology student seeking to begin my career fully in the world of psychology. I have had a keen interest in being a psychologist for a long time and was determined to train and be qualified and be able to listen to and help people with mental anguish.

I am an excellent listener and a good communicator. I feel that I am fair in my approach to work and that I pay great attention to detail in my work to enable me to help others. I am keen to do further training as necessary to keep my skills up to date and also to make sure that I am providing the best therapies for my clients.

I am organised, hard working and a very patient person and I am very excited to be beginning my career within psychology.

Good luck.
