Dear Mr Robinson

I am writing this letter to advise you that I wish to resign from my position as Human Resourcing Manager within ABC Solutions, with effect from the date above.

As you are aware, I am relocating to Camberley in Surrey to assume the position of HR Director with ZYX People Management. This is massive step up for me and an opportunity I could not pass on.

May I take this opportunity to thank you most graciously for the help, support, and opportunities I have had in the ten years I have been with the company. It has been a remarkable experience and I feel I have gained a lot of knowledge from working alongside you that I can take with me into my new role.

Should you require any additional information from me, do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely

Joanne Bloggs

These are very good examples of what should be written. Keeping them sweet is your goal, as you would like for them to give you a good reference.

Very very good examples.  I have moved once from Yorkshire to Kent so that was a big move, and obviously i needed to use one very similar to that.  It is good to have examples from other people that you can adapt for your own use

Always check out some examples if you’re not sure. People leave their jobs all the time because of moving house, so it’s not uncommon. Mention in the letter that it’s been a pleasure/you’ve enjoyed working at the company, and make sure you end on a positive note.
