If you are looking to be a Sociologist and have done a sociology degree then you could work is many different sectors such as: social services, the government, the criminal justice system, business and health or teaching. You could be looking for roles to teach students, or you could be researching information for the criminal justice system or working in many different areas such as mentioned above.

Sociology is the study of human social behaviour, where it has come from, how it has developed. Future employers will be looking for skills in having a detailed knowledge of sociology through a degree but also how you work yourself, do you have an inquisitive mind looking to explore the different areas?

If you have found a role you want to apply for which you think your sociology background could be useful in, please see the below personal statement that you can use as a guide.

A recent Sociology graduate from (what university, when and what grade did you end with) is looking forward to beginning a career using the skills and experience gained from learning about sociology.

I have always been keen to use my passion for sociology within the criminal justice system, helping through research and investigation to work out why people behave and react the way they do and what makes them from society to the crimes that they do and to find out what pressure is on people from society.

I find it very interested and am happy to research and learn to ensure that I know as much as I possibly can in my role. I am a good communicator, very organised and work in a very detailed and accurate manner. I work well under pressure and can work to tight deadlines as required. To be successful in my career I will always like to ensure I learn everything I possibly can.

Good luck.
