Dear Sirs

I should like to apply for the position of Systems Administrator, as advertised recently. I am currently working for a large engineering concern as a systems administrator. The role requires me to deal with a variety of problems and decide upon the best solution.

On a day to day basis my role is to install servers and configure hardware, peripherals; and research and recommend innovative approaches for system administration tasks; perform daily system monitoring, versus reviewing the system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups and security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions; investigate and troubleshoot issues such as repairing and recovering from systems failures.

It is also my role to identify approaches that use resources the most efficiently and offer economies of scale for the company.

I have a Degree in computing science and am Unix and Microsoft Certified as a systems engineer. I have 4 years’ experience as a Systems Administrator, the last 2 years being spent working in my current role, and I am now keen to develop my career and take on a new challenge.
